As a young man, he enjoyed surfing and bicycling at Tybee. He was a regular fixture in later years walking downtown Savannah greeting and talking with tourists.

Michael was pre-deceased by his parents, Dr. Arthur Michael Burke, Jr. and Kathleen Howard Burke. He is survived by his sister Kathleen (Ed), his brother Tim (Marie), and several cousins, nieces, nephews.

Visitation to be held at Fox and Weeks Islands Chapel on Monday, October 14, 2024, 5:00-7:00 p.m. with graveside ceremony at Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday, October 15th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society of Greater Savannah and the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist Heritage Preservation fund.

A classmate and a great friend

- Arthur Weil, Atlanta, GA - Georgia

I was very sorry to hear of Mike passing. He was a good friend from back in the days of our youth. We were crazy impulsive hooligans. Oh what times we had.

- Bob Williams, Guyton, GA

I have not seen or spoken to Michael for many years, but he was always a really friendly individual. I got to know him from talking and surfing with him at Tybee Island. He seemed to be a kind and gentle sort of guy that enjoyed being on the island. I’m sure he will be missed by his many loved ones. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
